Meeting the Challenges of ‘The New Normal’

How we’re adapting to help our participants, and how a donation starting at $11.00 can go a long way

Seemingly overnight, we have all stepped into a new reality. We try to keep ourselves and our families safe, work from home (if we’re lucky), and try to maintain some semblance of a normal household. We’ve started to feel thankful for small victories, like tracking down hand sanitizer or toilet paper at the grocery store.

Many of our CenterLight participants, however, aren’t as lucky. They fall into the most at-risk category for COVID-19. They are older, low-income and may live under conditions and circumstances that compromise their immune systems. Perhaps saddest of all, many of them live alone. In normal times, our Centers provide a daily opportunity to socialize, to get a fresh meal, and to receive medical care. But these are far from normal times.

CenterLight Health System and Friends of CenterLight have quickly adapted to a new normal that includes providing home food deliveries, daily phone calls, and virtual recreation activities for our participants to enjoy on Facebook Live. These activities include live music performances, art classes, stretching and exercise, Bingo and support groups for caregivers.

With this in mind, we’re asking our Friends and Partners to help us help those entrusted to our care. Any gift, no matter the size, helps our participants lead more comfortable lives while staying in their homes during the coronavirus outbreak. You may choose from the levels below or click the button on the right to donate any amount.
